I am showing some landscape photographs from the archives at The Corner Gallery in Stanmore for the next two weekends. I will be in the gallery 11am-4pm Friday and Saturday June 12/13 and 19/20. Adrian Cook will also be showing some of his beautiful one-of-a-kind tintypes and ambrotypes at the same time:

Lockdown Landscapes – works by Adrian Cook and Tony Egan
The COVID-19 lockdown has provided an opportunity for us to think about our work in different ways. Adrian created his own miniature landscapes and photographed them using an early 19th century photographic medium to create beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces. I explored my archives to create a travelogue of places visited in the past 30 years using a mixture of traditional film and digital techniques.
Tony Egan – The recent lockdown got me thinking about how we had taken for granted how easy it seemed to jump on a plane and travel to almost any part of the world within 24 hours. Also, how simple it once seemed to get in a car and travel to any of the hundreds of spectacular Australian landscapes on offer. I am showing a selection of landscapes of places around the world I’ve visited in the last 30 years to recognise the privilege to roam freely we have probably taken too lightly in the past!
Adrian Cook is a portrait and documentary photographer working with 19th century wet plate techniques. In contrast to the manipulation and transience of digital imagery, his practice exploits the unpredictability of this complex alchemical process to produce unique handmade metal and glass plates. These works seek to recall both the restraint and resonance of early tintypes, crafted to honour occasion and to memorialise.
This selection showcases a series of serene constructed landscapes, assembled from the burnt and baked native flora found strewn across local beaches in the days after the 2020 bushfire season.
