Fixed in Time – Photography Exhibition, Final Weekend 14/15/16 Feb, 2020

Tony is part of a group photography show coming up at the Corner Gallery in Stanmore. December 13th – 22nd, 2019. Final Weekend, Feb 14/15/16 11am-5pm each day.

The title Fixed in Time reflects, firstly, that a photograph is a moment of time permanently fixed. It is also a reference to the practice of chemically fixing a piece of film, paper, glass or tin using traditional or historical photographic processes.

Three of the photographers in the exhibition use a variety of traditional (often now called analogue) processes to produce monochromatic images. These practices involve exposing and chemically developing light sensitive metals like silver, platinum and palladium and then fixing them for permanency.

The photographers:
Philip Bell – Philip is showing images re-photographed from film negatives and prints made from ‘slides’ (transparencies) from the 1970s which pay homage to Dupain and Adams, as well as giclee colour prints from recent exhibitions.
Adrian Cook – Adrian specialises in the wet plate collodion process, a photographic medium developed in the early 1850’s. Each image is hand crafted, producing an original direct-positive image on a sheet of glass (ambrotype) or aluminium plate (tintype). Adrian will be offering wet plate portrait sessions at the gallery during the exhibition. Pop in for a sitting and experience for yourself how portraits were made during the Victorian era. Tony Egan – Tony is exhibiting a selection of landscapes from near and far printed in his darkroom on traditional silver gelatin photographic paper, fixed and toned to archival standards.

Bob Kersey – as well as featuring traditional silver and platinum prints, in this exhibition Bob is introducing his KERSEYEDITIONS which are high quality fiber based cotton rag prints with exceptional pigment rendition. Curated from Bob’s archive and inspired by the days of the photo poster. It is attractive. It is affordable. Just like the posters of days gone by. Printed to the standards of today.
